Death Valley PTA

I oughta be packin’ up my Buck Owens albums, coffee pot and collection of stuffed animals ready for the big move north next week, but a hangover and a general malaise mean I’m drinking vodka and listening to tunes instead, and this mix kinda came out of nowhere. Slim Cessna’s Auto Club have figured large round here of late (Earl did recommend them to me some time ago, but then he listens to free jazz and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin so he’s not always to be trusted). Anyway, SCAC are marvellous and got me listening to some other stompy sort of southern gothic ‘billy and that sort of caper. And then there was a mix – done on the fly, pretty short and far from comprehensive or instructive or considered.

It ain’t no thing…

(NB: Hayseed Dixie can suck my dick)
(NB2: wouldn’t that ole Harlan Howard quote about country music being “three chords and the truth” be the best name for any mix, blog or band you care to mention if those scrofulous fuckwads from U2 hadn’t co-opted it first. The shits).
