Get Right With God – The King & The Lord

Morning, Friends. Little late to chapel this erm, evening, unshaven and so on. It’s not news. But my troubled mind and shaking hands have, as so many times before, been soothed by the voice of the king. Elvis recorded a whole pile of gospel tunes during his career – some gentle, some stomping – and his love of the music is pretty well known. Here’s a couple of gentler ones from the How Great Thou Art album to ease your pain with. Less well known to a lot of folks is his friendship with James ‘Mr. Dynamite, The Hardest Working Man In Showbidness, Mr Please Please Please, Soul Brother No1’ Brown. Apparently they used to sing gospel tunes when they were together.

And no-one thought to record any of this?

“Last time I saw him, we sang ‘Old Blind Barnabus’ together, a gospel song. I love him and hope to see him in heaven. There’ll never be another like that soul brother.” James Brown
