It’s New, It’s Improved, It’s Old-Fashioned…

Well friends, as you can see from the picture there today we’re back in 1979 and here’s a few tunes Tom recorded at The BBC. It’s the end of the seventies and about the end of this version of Tom, the drunk lounge singer/beat poet. He’d had enough of it. He made one more record for Asylum ‘Heart Attack & Vine’ which got a little more bluesy and hard edged. It took a little time but he came back on Island and a whole new world of madness had poured into his songs. Still, these are great versions of some earlier songs, With A Suitcase has a story about Tom shopping at Lanskys in the middle of the night and runs into I Never Talk To Strangers, his band sound great. Step right up!
