Is there a Dr. in the house?

So it seems as like the good Dr John has hisself a new record on the way on out to us in a week or two. Is called ‘Locked Down’ and was produced by the guy outta The Black Keys don’tcha know. Now, as is the way with these things, it be gettin’ all this ‘best thing he done since the seventies’ type talk and what all. Usually this kinda talk is comin’ from the record company to sell it, or from music writers who most likely be meanin’ “what he ain’t dead? I ain’t heard nuthin’ but ‘Gris -Gris'” and gotta be taken with a whole handful o’ Zatarain’s. I’m a reserve opinion awhile but the tune I heard off of it was good, and truth is he could do with a real solid great record. Last time out ‘Tribal’ was a pretty good record I thought, but not a classic. We last seen him play around then and he even got up and played guitar some. You know he don’t do a whole bunch of that type thing. Got shot in the finger tryna stop Ronnie Barron gettin’ a pistol whippin’ way back before he was even Dr John. So maybees it was a step toward another high point. I think I’ll be coming back to this whole thing here y’know?

Mean time we gots here today some live recordings from the high point/near end of that early seventies run. 1973 and the Dr is touring the ‘Right Place – Wrong Time’ stuff, this is a live studio recording for radio an pretty good too. I picked out some of the more unusual stuff in the set and don’t skip the interview either, features the doctor in fine form puttin the voodoo on the hapless dj/presenter dude. Ya dig?
