The return of Santa’s sackfull of seasonal sing-a-longs, stuffing and stollen smorgasbord

advent_calendar_tree

Happy freakin’ Holidays y’all! The toilet roll advent tree is rockin’ along now, a lil’ late this year but come on, we had to put in some extra effort to get 24 rolls if you see what I say. It ain’t too late yet for a shiny new christmas mix this year I feel, few newer-ish/new to me tunes kickin about and looking down the list here lot of good old ones missing from these dusty old selection boxes. Truth is friends, ain’t entirely feeling the seasonal vibes yet, couple weeks to go though, so I’d best get some whiskey and cake in my sorry face and get with the damn programme. In the meanwhile, some folks been scrolling back and finding this old post from previous years so I’m slapping it up on the top agin for those what’s taken with the festive feelin’ already to get stuck on into –  a triple whammy of old mixes to make the season bright, click the titles to download ’em, top one is up on the mixcloud, others ain’t – holler if’n you care about that any, and Merry Damn Christmas Y’all!

A Randy & Earl Christmas

Jazz, Soul, R&B, Gospel and a couple of curve balls this one is a sweet little set of festive fun from the out and out silliness of ‘Boogie Woogie Santa Claus’ to Irma’s stunning and devout version of ‘O Holy Night’ the poetry of Tom Waits and that gorgeous closing piano from Ahmad Jamal. Kinky Friedman done a version of ‘Christmas Card From A Hooker…’ this year. Ain’t no match for Tom’s and that’s a plain fact. Not bad though and probably be on the new xmas mix if I get it together to do it. Expect it for New Year’s maybe, heh.

Randy & Earl’s Country Christmas

This one’s a whole bunch of country – there’s heartbreak and drinkin’ and family in there a plenty and a hearty helping of cheese too, ain’t no point in sugar coating that particular christmas plum. I guess that means it ain’t all for everyone but, c’mon y’all, Jesus loved him some country music dont’cha know and it’s his birthday so get yer drunk ass onboard here ‘k?
