Mumblin Earl’s Christmas Cracker

You know how I loves some Christmas music, other day I done posted up the old ones there and had a listen. Try and get that seasonal mood kick started ’round here. Well, much as there’s some great tunes (and frankly y’all, some dubious ones) in there it felt like a few old favourites and some new treats were missing. So the other night when I was at the christmas drinks selection a little enthusiastically I got to messing about playing some records. As a result here’s a new mix for everybody to enjoy,  whole c90’s worth I been blastin’ out the tape deck in the truck. This here bunch has about everything from the sweet voice of darling miss Caitlin Rose all the way back to some crackly old blues from Lil’ McClintock. Like I mentioned before, Kinky Freidman’s go at ‘Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis’ pops up, it’s growing on me y’know, Tom hisself is here reading a beautiful piece from Bukowski and in the second half we got a bunch of all out, solid gold, Old Record Club classics, ‘Elephant For Christmas’, ‘Merry Christmas From The Family’, ‘Christmas Tree On Fire’, the demented ‘Even Squeaky Fromme Loves Christmas’ and rounding out with the killer one-two punch of Big Star and Darlene Love. If’n that ain’t Christmas then I don’t know what y’all. So best wishes to you and yours for the holidays, click the big red title if you wanna download it and spread the love or just stream it here. What do you think Nancy wants from Mr. T for Christmas? He might be sayin ” This ain’t the kinda cracker I had in mind”

  1. Unless it’s just my computer, the download zip seems to be a bit jiggered – claims to be 129.8MB but has a moan while unzipping and comes out at 16.5MB. Sounds great on the mixcloud but I need me something for the long drive home in a couple of days!

  2. okay, I’ve reuploaded the file now so should be good to give her another try…
